Becoming a “Point Person”

When Cindy heard her breast cancer diagnosis, she felt isolated. In that moment, her whole life changed.

She’d have a hard battle ahead — one which would dominate her thoughts for the foreseeable future.

She spoke to her best friend, Lucy, on the evening of the diagnosis. Lucy promised to take care of the little things.

Lucy became the “point person,” the central figure to coordinate group efforts. Karelane made it easy for her to fulfill that role.

The phrase “if you need anything, let me know” took on a new meaning. This time it was for real. Cindy could ask for anything in the chat feature. Her friend would organize it. Then group members could volunteer for tasks like looking after her 4-year-old while she attended chemotherapy or accompanying her to her weekly checkup.
